About Lovejoy Transitional Care Center

Our History

The healthcare environment changed considerably in Rochester during the 1990s. Hospitals endeavored to more quickly discharge patients who were not in need of costly acute care. Recognizing that post-acute care for adults was a need to be met in the community, the Friendly Home opened the Transitional Care Unit in a separate wing during the spring of 1999 to serve individuals recovering from surgery, illness or injury.

The Friendly Home completed a major addition and renovation project in 2010, which relocated the Lovejoy Transitional Care Center to its current location.
